Here is a new song from Kate Brown. This is the first time we’ve had Kate on CML from what I can see. She makes a good first impression with this song. There are some elements of different kinds of music in this song. It’s different from other modern country songs. It’s a little bit of a throwback with some different sounds mixed in. Let’s check it out.
6 Shots – Kate Brown
It seems like this song is about a woman that’s ready to move on from a guy. I can’t tell for sure. It seems to be first about a struggle between two people that aren’t sure if they’re right for each other. There is something there, but the focus is on how the other should change so that they can be happy. But there’s a realization that you can’t expect the other person to change.
The song also seems to be about something else. It really builds in intensity throughout the song and at the end you feel like you’ve been on some kind of ride. You feel like you’re out of breath almost. It’s kind of crazy how it builds like that.
This one is definitely rooted in folk rock and folk country. Maybe that’s Americana? I don’t know if we have to give it a genre because it’s pretty cool just on its own. I really like the instrumentation on this one and especially the violin. That is really cool.
What do you think of this one?
