Maren Morris is becoming one of my favorite new artists. I’ve been hearing her songs on Spotify the last few weeks. We looked at one the other week that was great (My Church).
But I’ve been hearing another one and wanted to include it. The song is really catchy and the vocals are really unique almost with a modern country, but still old school country sound.
Check it out.
80’s Mercedes – Maren Morris
It’s a car song.
Country music has had some great car songs over the years, but I can’t think of one that we’ve had lately. This one is pretty cool and it’s something that many people can relate to; both young and old.
When we’re young we feel free when we have our first or second car. Those cars usually aren’t anything special. I know my first car was made in the ’80s and I was driving it around 2000-2001.
Heck, the way things are for a lot of people out there it’s still driving around in a car that’s 10, 15 or even more years old. There’s nothing wrong with that and we kind of grow to become part of our car or the other way around.
That’s kind of what this song is about. It’s about life and our cars and how we kind of grow to represent each other.
But the vocals and production on this one are great. It’s kind of that new female sound in Nashville – catchy with soul. I like it.
I hope it can find success on mainstream radio.
