Gretchen Wilson
Bio
Gretchen Wilson broke out onto the scene in a big way in 2004 with her debut single, Redneck Woman.
The song shot to #1 as it connected with a huge audience that bought her records in the millions and flocked to see her shows. Here debut album, Here For The Party, sold over five million copies and Wilson became a household name and country superstar seemingly overnight.
However, the bartender from Illinois was anything but an overnight success.
She was singing and tending bar for years before running into John Rich. After a few meetings, Rich and Wilson and a few other guys and gals from their posse wrote the songs that would become Here For The Party.
After two more albums with declining sales and lower charting singles, Wilson left her major label and struck out on her own with I Got Your Country Right Here.
