Shania Twain struggled out of the gate with her debut album.

There was never any doubt that the Canadian singer had talent and charisma, but it wasn’t until her meeting with future husband (and now ex-husband) rock and pop producer Mutt Lange that Shania’s career would take off to new levels of success in country music.

With the release of The Woman In Me Shania Twain became a household name. From her midriff baring video (now seemingly harmless) to her catchy chorus-heavy hit singles, Shania successfully blended pop and country and broadened the country audience.

Shania’s next release Come On Over started off relatively slow, but by the time the seventh hit single was released it was one of the biggest selling albums of all time…in any genre. The album sold over 20 million copies in the US alone and won multiple awards for Shania as both performer and songwriter.

In her personal life, Shania has lived abroad in Canada and Switzerland. She finds peace and acceptance away from the spotlight in between tours and hit recordings.

Despite a divorce from her husband, Twain is going strong and her son and her seem happy with their lives.
