Toby KeithBio

Toby Keith hit it big with his first single in 1993, Should’ve Been A Cowboy. The song shot straight to number one and became the most played country song of the ’90s.

Continuous top ten hits followed after Keith’s first big splash.

After multiple album changes that saw Keith being pushed aside by the newcomers in the top executive offices, Keith was able to break free from his contract.

In 1999, he bought the album How Do You Like Me Now?! from his label (they had paid for the recording sessions) and he took it to his new label.

The album was released and the title track went to #1 and took Keith to new heights.

The song, How Do You Like Me Now?! was the story of a guy that couldn’t impress the girl in high school, ultimately became a star, and wanted to rub the success in her face a little bit.

The song was an anthem for Keith, who had been turned down in various stages of his career in Nashville.

The ’00s were a huge success for Keith as he sold millions of albums and released numerous big singles.

In the latter half of the decade he struck out on his own by starting Show Dog Nashville Records. Keith’s albums have continued to sell well, but other artists have struggled to find success on the label.

Toby Keith has been a mainstay on the album and singles charts for nearly two decades and he is clearly driven to succeed despite what critics may say about him.
