Billy Currington is on a roll right now.
Billy’s last three singles have all reached #1 on the country singles charts. That makes five total for the groovy country singer. I guess that’s how the laid back, flip-flop wearing country boy rolls.
Billy dropped his latest album Enjoy Yourselflast week and it’s sure to bet that it will debut at #1 on the country album charts in a couple of days.
To coincide with the release Billy has sent the second single from the album to radio. After listening to the song more than a few times already I’m sure it’ll be another hit.
The new song is Let Me Down Easy. It’s a story about a guy realizing he’s about to fall head over heels in love with a gal. He lets her know that she needs to be careful with him when he falls. He wants to be treated right and know that she’ll let him fall easy when he goes all in with her.
The tune is really cool. I love the ’80s kind of groove it has. The song reminds me of the kind of pop-country songs that were popular about 25 years ago. Those songs from the likes of Eddie Rabbitt, Paul Overstreet, Restless Heart, and even way back to the ’70s with James Taylor.
Billy is unique today in country music. I feel there is a place for his kind of country. He’s not always rocking. He’s not always twanging like traditionalists. Billy is his own artist. His laid back feel is unique and wonderful to listen to. He’s mastered the characteristics of his sound and he continues putting out great music fans love.
I think Let Me Down Easywill do well on the charts.
