This band was brought to my attention a week or so back. I like discovering new bands especially ones with a little bit of an interesting background.
Silverdrive 35 is a country rock band from Sweden. So right off the bat there is some intrigue. It’s kind of cool to think that country music has influence all over the world. Here in the States we don’t always think of it like that, but it’s a good thing.
Let’s check out this tune.
Bleeding Heart – Silverdrive 35
The first thing that kind of pops into my head when I listen to this song is the first album from Little Texas. I think that album came out in the late ’80s or early ’90s. It kind of had that power ballad feel that was popular in the ’80s in rock. It was pretty cool stuff and it fit well in country at the time.
Silverdrive 35 definitely seems to have some of that influence, but they also bring some modern touches to this song. The one thing you have to say is that the song is catchy. The verses kind of build a little slow and low and then when the chorus kicks in they really belt out the vocals and you kind of catch yourself singing along a bit. It’s pretty cool stuff.
I don’t know how much exposure this song and band will get in the US, but this is the kind of song that could get them some attention. It’s familiar enough to not be scary, but it’s also different enough to make people stop and think.
