Aaron Watson’s latest album is titled, The Underdog. That’s an apt name. Outside of Texas and surrounding states he hasn’t been known to the mainstream country audience. But that album debuted at number one last year and Aaron has been getting some much deserved attention.
Here is the latest single from that album. It’s a good one.
Bluebonnets (Julia’s Song) – Aaron Watson
Even when you listen to this song the first time you can feel that there is real emotion behind it. There is a story behind this song. It’s powerful and it hits home even if you don’t know the story at first.
The story is that this song is dedicated to Aaron Watson’s daughter, Julia. She passed shortly after birth. This song is her tribute and it’s a wonderful song. It has a little somberness to it, but it always has a hopeful outlook. Life is certainly not fair sometimes and it’s hard to figure out why things happen.
Sometimes there just aren’t answers for the hardest questions. The way we often respond is to put our emotions out there to others and hope that we can form connections with people because life is really about connecting with others.
This is a great song. From the perspective of a country song it’s really good. The production is right on point. That violin is almost crying in the background and it kind of brings a tear to your eye as you hear Aaron singing those lyrics.
Just a beautiful song.
