Some country artists get their start as songwriters for others. They’ll get a few cuts and on occasion they even get a huge single.
That’s the story of new country artist Brent Cobb. He’s had cuts for some big stars including Luke Bryan (Tailgate Blues off Tailgates & Tanlines). In fact, that’s how Luke got his start by co-penning a hit for Billy Currington (Good Directions).
Now it’s Brent Cobb’s turn to move from sought after songwriter to an artist in his own right. And he has a great first single to get things started. Check it out and see what you think.
Love On Me – Brent Cobb
It’s easy to see the connection with artists like Luke Bryan in the lyrics of this song. Brent has that country boy charm coming through strong on Love On Me.
The song is about a guy that’s trying to get a girl to fall for him. He knows he’s kind of a simple guy, but he has a proposal for her. He can’t promise her the world, but he can promise that their life together would be fun and simple. Sometimes in life that’s all you really need.
This song doesn’t take itself too seriously and I kind of like that. Not every love song has to be a serious ballad with gushing words abou the significant other in our lives. Sometimes it’s just fine to laugh at a few funny words and enjoy each other’s company.
It’s got a great melody and I think it’s going to be a hit for this country newcomer.
