I don’t know much about Chris Lane, but he’s a rising country artist. It looks like he’s put out a few videos and songs in the past and that all makes for a growing fanbase, which is pretty cool to see. That’s one thing I love about country music today. New artists can build their fanbase and then team up with the big labels later if they want.
Anyway, here is the new single from Chris Lane. It’s a catchy one about small town life.
Broken Windshield View – Chris Lane
The first thing that jumps out at me about this song is the catchy melody. I like uptempo songs. I like a good sad song or ballad too once in a while, but most times I’m in the mood for something catchy like Whatever She’s Got or Where It’s At. You know those two songs. This one kind of falls into that same category.
Although the love in this song is about the small town life. That does include those small town girls, but it includes so much more. You have the love for farming and for working hard. If you grew up in the small town then you’ll recognize all the images in the song.
And it’s put together well with an interesting little hook. The title references those cracks in the windshield that we often get in the country. When you’re driving down the backroads you’re going to kick up a few rocks and those rocks are going to hit the windshield. If you replaced it every time you’d go broke.
Neat hook and a good song. What do you think of the newcomer Chris Lane?
