Casey James is still looking for that breakout hit. His first effort topped out just outside the top 20 on the country charts, but he’s back now and looking for something more. I think he has a great song here and I’m sure his fans will agree.
Crying On A Suitcase – Casey James
There is a definite rock edge to Casey James. His music has this late ’80s or early ’90s feel. There is that gruff in his voice that blends the boundaries between country and rock. It’s cool. It’s different and it’s interesting.
Crying On A Suitcase is the story of a girl that’s getting out of town. She’s finally ready to move on with her life. She’s running away from her life that she’s known. She’s at the airport and is ready to run away and start the new life.
This is a passionate song. People are going to lose this girl. She’s had enough and she’s heading out of town and if nobody takes action she’ll be gone forever. Will her man go after her? Does he care enough to run to the airport and bring her back home? I’m not sure.
Sometimes I think we all want to hit the airport and fly far away from our home. We look to start a new life somewhere else. It’s all about getting away and just hitting the reset button on life. There has to be more to it than this. We pivot and make a big change and start living the life we know we were supposed to live.
I like this song. It’s different. I think it’s a great new take on a common feeling people have. Casey adds a unique sound to the topic with his hard edged voice and music. It’s interesting and I think he’s making the right moves to become a legit country star.
