Chris Cagle spent some time away from country music. He was really at the top of the country world in 2008. He had a hit song in the top three on the charts and things were looking great. But he had some personal issues and he took some time to get away from the music scene and take care of things.
He came back in 2011 with a new hit song and since then he’s been out touring and supporting a followup top twenty single. It seems like Chris has a strong supporting cast of a new woman and two daughters back at home. He seems happy with his personal life and that’s showing nicely in his new music.
One of the songs off his new album was about his daughter or daughters and it’s the next single from the record. Check it out.
Dance Baby Dance – Chris Cagle
This is a really cool song. Follow that link above for a video of Chris talking about this song. He gets emotional at the end because he’s thinking about his daughters and letting them know that even when he’s gone they’ll have some way to connect with him through his music.
On top of the story behind the song and lyrics there is a really good melody. That’s always key. Yes, the stories and personal side of the lyrics are really important, but if it’s not catchy or if people can’t groove along to it they’re not going to pay as much attention.
This song has a great melody. It’s a really great song. I don’t think there’s anything like this song out there on radio right now. I think it could be one of the surprise monster hits of the year.
