At 5:00pm local time, Chris Cagle took the stage for thousands of country fans at Eau Claire, Wisconsin’s Country Jam USA. It was the opening night of the festival and Chris was there to rile up the crowd of fans that were getting off work and ready for a weekend of country music, cold beer, and lots of fun.
The weather had been a little uncooperative earlier in the day as rain poured down and caused things to get muddy. Just picture Brad Paisley‘s Mud On The Tires video and you’ll get a feeling for what the day was like. A steady mist hung around for Chris’ show, but there were plenty of Cagleheads in the crowd singing right along with the songs they loved.
Chris seemed full of energy too as he moved up and down the stage and played his guitar. It turned out to be a great show and the fans were loving all the classic hits Chris was playing. A favorite of the night included Wal-Mart Parking Lot, which Chris said a fan had requested back stage during the meet and greet.
My favorite part of the show was when Chris called a fan up on stage. The gal had a video recorder – either a phone or a camera – and Chris wanted to make a video for the fan to put on You Tube. In this day of artists and label execs that hate when fans enjoy videos, music, and share it with others, it’s great to see Chris encouraging people to spread the word about him and his live show. Chris took the camera and sang his hit What Kind Of Gone while looking into the camera and pointing it at the pumped up crowd.
Chris said that he’s singed to a new record label and is recording music for a new album. He’s eying a late 2010 or an early 2011 release date for the new music. While the record deal sounds like an independent situation, Chris seems to be drive to succeed. He’s a talented guy with a knack for picking hit songs so there is every reason to believe he can become a star once again.
Chris put on a great show for the fans in Eau Claire, WI. His voice is still great and he seems energized to continue his career.
Look for more news on Chris as he prepares his new music and new shows.
