I’ve been waiting on this one for a few weeks.
I discovered that Kelleigh Bannen had a podcast out. I started listening and it was great. I’ve even gone back and listened to the archived episodes.
I’ve been a fan of Kelleigh’s since her first singles for Capitol came out. I believe she’s doing the independent thing right now, but she’s been excited about a new single and it’s finally here.
Church Clothes – Kelleigh Bannen
There are some deep things going on with this one. You have two people that sound like they have been together for awhile. But things lately haven’t been working. They haven’t been connecting. They fight. They argue. They live in the same house, but the love just isn’t there anymore.
The hook on this song is that they still go through all the same motions of a couple that’s in love. They do all the same things including putting their nice church clothes on and going to service. They talk with friends. They act and seem like a couple with everything good going on.
But they know that is not the case. They’re not in love anymore, but anyone on the outside would never expect it.
And there’s really not a resolution to the song. That’s probably pretty common with relationships like this. The couple just keeps on going with life. They’re not happy, but they’re probably not incredibly unhappy either. They just…are.
I hope this song gets some notice for Kelleigh. She’s talented and with a song like this I think fans are going to notice.
