You may not even realize, but Colt Ford is changing country music.
At this point the majority of folks out there might not know who Colt Ford is, but over the last couple years Colt has been a rising star. Awhile back he decided to give up is dream of professional golf to pursue another dream – country star. His idea was to combine the music he heard in high school parking lots: country and rap.
For the last few years Colt has been working to breakthrough on the charts. He’s mostly had some fast, up tempo songs, but with his next release Colt is slowing things down and getting sentimental. And you know what? This could be the song that breaks him through with the country mainstream.

What do you think?
Does She Likes To Ride In Trucks have what it takes to reach the top 40 on the charts? I’m even thinking this song could make it upwards of around #25 on the charts here this summer and heading into fall.
With this track Colt is telling the story of his growing daughter. He remembers the days when she liked to go for rides in his pickup truck. He remembers raising her from when she was a young baby. There was a time back when she was young when he was her best friend. But time passed by and now she’s got a new man in her life. She likes to ride in the new man’s truck and Colt is left in the dust.
It’s a common story for fathers and daughters. Time goes by and eventually daughters get married. In this case it seems like the guy is a pretty good guy and Colt approves. He’s coming to terms with the fact that he’s not as important to her. He’s still her daddy and always will be important, but now she’s riding in a new truck.
Colt asked buddy Craig Morgan to help him on the chorus with this song and it really sets the mood well. Craig is a true pro and he nails his part of this song. He hits the emotion perfectly.
It was a few years ago when I heard Colt Ford for the first time. I wasn’t really sure what to think of him and his music. It was different and I didn’t really get it at first. Now it seems country music is taking on more rock and rap sounds.
Colt even wrote a song awhile back with Brantley Gilbert – Dirt Road Anthem – and now the song is heading to the #1 spot on the charts for Jason Aldean. That’s a huge accomplishment and proof enough that Colt knew he could change country music.
People seem to like what Colt is doing and I think She Likes To Ride In Trucks could be the song to really break him through in a big way to the mainstream.
Colt already has a huge and passionate fanbase, but I think his career is about to take another leap as this song climbs the charts.
