Maren Morris has been one of my favorite artists the last few months. Her debut EP has some really great songs on it. Two have been on the CML Chart for weeks and weeks, but they are starting to run their course and I think we need to get another one ready to go.
So here is the next song from Maren Morris.
Company You Keep – Maren Morris
I think this song continues to show the versatility that Maren has. With all of her songs on that EP you can get a feel for the different styles she can pull off.
I’m not even sure how to classify this one. I think there are some elements of country in there. It’s almost like a few pop songs from the ’90s too and that’s pretty cool.
It’s just a cool song with a cool groove.
I think it’s a song about friendship, which is important at any age, but is especially important to you when you’re young or a young adult.
At that age you don’t really have a spouse. You don’t have a family and you’re looking for your place in the world so hanging with your friends is what you do and that can define you.
And like Maren says, it’s all about the company you keep. It’s true at any point in life, but especially when you’re young and impressionable.
This is another catchy song from Maren and I think it will do well. I can’t wait until we hear her on country radio. I don’t know how it hasn’t happened already.
