David Nail has a new single coming out in a week or so. I thought they were planning on releasing one more from his last album, but they must have found something good and had to move on to the next record.
So that brings us to the theme of Wednesday here on Country Music Life, which is to look at songs that didn’t make the cut as singles, but that probably could have been singles.
We already looked at Broke My Heart, which was the potential third single from this album, but today we’re looking at Countin’ Cars, which is a classic sounding song from David Nail.
Countin’ Cars – David Nail
This is a really sad song if you listen to the lyrics. You have a guy that’s sitting at home. He’s lying in bed trying to sleep, but he’s been up all night for probably many nights in a row.
The cars keep rolling by outside. He watches the lights dance on the ceiling and he’s hoping that one of those cars will turn down the driveway and be the love of his life.
The songs leads you to believe that something happened with the girl. Maybe she left or maybe something else happened, but either way it’s really sad to think about this guy sitting there unable to get to sleep because he misses her so much.
It’s been really cool to see David rack up a few hits the last few years. He’s a unique artist and country music is lucky to have him. Hopefully he comes out with a slamming single when it comes out. I haven’t heard it yet, but I’m sure it’ll be a good one.
