Karl Deeter is an independent artist with a new album out. It looks like he released a couple albums recently or at least put them up on Spotify recently.
Anyway, we’re going to check out the title track from his album, Cracked Up. It’s a little different from what you’ll hear on country radio today, but it definitely has some country influences.
A little storytelling country for you.
Cracked Up – Karl Deeter
This song has an almost Johnny Cash type beat. It just keep pounding and rolling along. You get the feeling that life is going by pretty fast.
Maybe that’s done on purpose in this case. Maybe the guy in the song is feeling the pressure to live his life differently, but things keep going by faster and faster and he just can’t change things.
I’m not entirely sure about the lyrics. It feels like the narrator is going through a little mania and chaos in his life. That’s what’s leading to feeling cracked up. I’m sure we’ve all been there a time or two in life.
It’ll be interesting to see how audiences respond to Karl and his music. There is definitely something pretty cool there. It’s a little different and usually people like to pay attention to new things. They try it out and if they connect with it they can become very passionate about it.
