In what will perhaps be the most under the radar most anticipated move of 2012 in country music we have Craig Campbell with a new single. I’m not sure anyone in the last 18 months has had more hits yet been so under the radar. Craig Campbell quietly put together a strong set of singles and now he’s back with another strong single. Check out Outta My Head.
Outta My Head – Craig Campbell
Fast forward to 1:49
I love this song. It’s catchy. The melody is great. Like the title of the song you just can’t get this one outta your head. That’s the mark of a country song that has potential to become a big time hit.
It was obvious with nearly every song on his debut album that Craig Campbell has a talent for hit country songs. He had a hand in writing for that record and even though he was on an independent label he racked up three really strong singles. People were loving what Craig Campbell was releasing and that continues with Outta My Head.
This one has the feel of Family Man from the musical standpoint, but it’s different and unique. The topic is familiar in country music. We have a guy that’s trying to get over a woman. He’s over her in some ways, but in others he can’t get her out of his head. He’s doing everything in the physical world to rid himself of her memory, but he can’t get past her. She’s in his head and remains in his thoughts. There is no way to clear that part of the relationship. The only thing that works is time and for that we can only get by one day at a time.
Craig Campbell is looking at another top 20 hit. That’s what I’m feeling for this song. It’s radio-friendly and Craig seems to have the consistency radio appreciates from an artist. There is an outside chance this one could become Craig’s first top ten hit. His career kind of reminds me of the early career of Eric Church.
Will Craig break out in the future like Eric?
It’s possible, but that’s always a long shot.
