Tyler Farr Jason Aldean

Damn good friends.

Sometimes there are really cool songs out there that won’t ever be released as singles. These are often the duets that artists seem to love to record, but because Nashville labels can’t figure out the business end of duets like the pop business these songs never see the radio.

But at CML we don’t have to follow those rules. So we’re going to pull a song from Tyler Farr’s latest album that I think is one of the best out there right now.

Damn Good Friends – Tyler Farr feat. Jason Aldean

First off, the song is really catchy. I don’t know what it is about the melody, but after a few listens I’m singing this song in my head all day. There is just something about some songs that they’ll get stuck in your head and this one has that ear worm quality in a good way.

The song is obviously about friendship and the quality friendships we have and what they mean for our lives. I really like the line that most of us have a hundred buddies, but only a couple damn good friends. That’s really true and it’s the main line that gets the point of the song across.

I think it’s a good reflection on how important friends are even if we don’t realize it. But I think most of us do realize how important our really good friends are in life and that includes friends like spouses, siblings and even others.

Great song here from two great artists in country right now. I hope we hear it on the radio, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

In the meantime we can listen on CML.

CML Points: 92/100
