In My Head by Dierks Bentley

Dierks Bentley in the Studio

The pressure is on Dierks to make it four in a row.

Is there anyone that can write a more catchy country song that Dierks Bentley? The guy knows what the radio listening audience wants. Dierks is coming off three straight number one singles. The guy is back on track after a great venture into bluegrass. His next single hasn’t been announced just yet and there are some good options on his latest record. I feel it could be Heart of a Lonely Girl, but it could also be this one.

In My Head – Dierks Bentley

It’s another catchy song from Dierks. The song is a little uptempo. It’s nothing like 5-1-5-0, which why I think it could make a great next single. It’s a little laid back. The song is about how the guy feels for a girl. He can’t get her out of his head. All he thinks about is the time he spent with this girl. She might have left, but she’s still in his head.

The song has plenty of modern day country radio elements. There is the catchy melody. There is the mention of love and love lost. There is plenty of electric guitars. It’s the perfect country radio song and could make it four number one singles from one record for Direks. That would be an achievement not seen by many artists over the last 20 years. I think Garth, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw and Rodney Atkins have pulled it off with four Billboard Country Songs number ones. It’s a small and obviously respectable list.

This is a key moment for Dierks. He could achieve something special here and I think he could do it with In My Head. Obviously the folks at the label know what they’re doing so we’ll have to see what they come out with. I’m pulling for Dierks and his record setting next single.

What do you think the next one will be?
