We’re going down to check out the Texas Chart for this one. I like checking out that chart once in a while to see what music we’re missing in the mainstream world. And if you like real, traditional country music then the Texas Chart is really where you want to be.
Here is another band that is new to me, but probably favorites of many down in Texas.
Down Here – Turnpike Troubadours
Man this band is cool. It sounds like a band you would hear at the bar on the weekend. They would have the place rocking and the thing is that it could have been any era in country music over the last few decades. It seems like they would just always fit in.
The song is about how you can feel like you’re down and out. We all feel that way at some point. We all put ourselves in situations we know we shouldn’t.
Then, if you’re lucky, someone will come along and help you get out. I think that’s what the song is about. It’s about friendship for those you may not even know and about how you just have to keep on moving forward in life no matter what is happening.
We all make mistakes. Some of us have good intentions and some make poor choices. But for the most part we’re all just trying to make it through doing alright.
Great song with a really cool melody. And you won’t hear music like this on the mainstream, but it sure is big time down in Texas.
They know real country music down there.
