Here’s another new artist to CML. We haven’t looked at any songs before from Nestor AnDress. But I have to say that after a first listen that I’m liking his style.
He’s from down in Texas and that has been where the traditional style of country has remained. Sometimes when I’m in the mood for some neo-traditional country I’ll tune into what’s going on down in Texas.
Let’s check out this new song.
Drunk At A Bar – Nestor AnDress
I wasn’t sure the direction this one would take. When you look at the title you think that it’s going to be something pretty familiar especially for what’s going on in country today. You also think maybe it’ll be the typical lonely, drunk in a bar, getting over heartbreak song that has been part of country for decades.
But right away you realize that this song is different. The theme is that there is a connection between two people. They’ve been together for awhile it seems. So it’s a little different than the normal young love type of country song where things are hot and heavy.
This one is about rekindling the flame or even keeping that feeling of being in love for the first time. You’re kissing like you did when you spent your early days together after a few drinks at a bar.
So that’s something a little different than what you get in today’s country music. And the cool thing is that this song sounds traditional while also having a groove like a modern country song. I like it.
What do you think?
