You may or may not have heard of Dustin Lynch.
From my point of view he’s a brand new artist. That’s usually not the case with new artists. They “appear” on the scene after years of hard work and perseverance. Here is the new top 30 single from Dustin Lynch of Broken Bow Records.
Cowboys & Angels – Dustin Lynch
Dustin Lynch is my favorite kind of country artist. He’s neo-traditional in the vein of Alan Jackson and Tracy Lawrence. For a more contemporary peer you could look to someone like Justin Moore, Easton Corbin, or even Chris Young to a little extent. These artists are the kind that really play well to the country of the ’90s. That’s my favorite era.
Cowboys & Angels is the story of a guy and a girl that are falling in love or have already fallen in love. They’re looking at the rest of their lives together and how it will work out. He’s kind of a roughneck with a past of wild antics and a little wary from the blazed trail. She’s the angel that’s always done right and is trying to keep him somewhat on the right path in life.
As cowboys move through life I think things do slow down a little bit. They are wild for a time, but everyone grows up at some point. Some grow up sooner than others. The rest kind of hang on to a certain life for as long as they can until their angel comes along and starts getting them to settle down. The real cowboys will fight that off while others are happy to have found someone they can spend their life with.
The song should reach the top ten on the charts. It’s a really strong debut from a great artist. Dustin’s voice is strong. It’s distinct. With country in a bit of a pop-driven mode right now it’s the perfect time for a traditionalist to come along and grab some attention. I’m rooting for Dustin to make it big and really bring more great songs to the radio.
It’s also good to see another strong artist on Broken Bow. The label is best known for Jason Aldean. They’ve had other successes, but it would be great to see them harbor another superstar.
What do you think?
Can that star be Dustin Lynch?
