It’s Never Alright by Dwight Yoakam

Dwight Yoakam

Dwight Yoakam is back and ready with new music.

Dwight Yoakam is one of my favorite artists.

I’ve been patiently waiting for him to release new music. I know he’s busy out touring and filming movies, but man I love when he releases new music. He hasn’t had the success in the last ten years as he had in the first part of his career, but he’s been releasing some really great music. Now he’s back with a new album on the way and there is an early listen track available called It’s Never Alright.

It’s Never Alright – Dwight Yoakam

One thing you’re always going to get with Dwight Yoakam is different and interesting. You’ll notice the horns on this track. You don’t hear that very much these days in country. I know Toby Keith and Jerrod Niemann have been using them lately and in the old days there were common. It’s good to see Dwight changing things up. I’m sure after making all the music he’s made he’s ready to make some interesting moves.

The track is about love and love lost. You might move on, but there is doubt that it will ever be as good as it was with this person. You were in love and right after it’s over it’s really hard to believe that things will get better. It’s really hard and people go through those emotions all the time.

Dwight is on the top of his game on this track. His voice sounds really good. This song could have been released back in the ’80s and you wouldn’t know the difference. It’s classic Dwight yet there is a newness to the track as well. I really like it.

An interesting note, the song is co-written by Dwight and Ashley Monroe of the Pistol Annies. It’s always interesting to see the collaborations happening in Nashville. When you get two talented people working together the result is usually something great.

It’s great to have Dwight back. I’ll be purchasing this record the day it’s released.
