Life is pretty good for the Eli Young Band.
The guys in the group just saw their latest five song EP debut at the top of the country iTunes charts. That’s a big accomplishment for any act, but for a rising group it’s impressive.
Here is one of the songs I’m really liking from the EP.
Listen to Skeletons from the Eli Young Band…
Skeletons – Eli Young Band
With Skeletons we have a guy and girl thinking about taking the next step in a relationship. The story sees the girl a little hesitant in the decision, though. She wonders just how damaged the guy is. She’s not sure if she can handle all of his history.
The guy in the story admits he has more than his share of skeletons in the closet. He has the tattoos of an ex-girlfriend’s name on his body. He’s got more than his fair share of stories regarding breaking rules.
No matter what relationship it is there will always be skeletons in the other person’s closet. Even if the two people are relatively good there are always stories from the past that may come up in the future. It’s probably best to share those stories right away to lay everything out on the table. Or maybe it’s best to keep things in the past where they belong.
I don’t know the right answer. The guys in Eli Young Band seem to think sharing those stories is the right way to go. Their song is a winner.
What I think I like most about the Eli Young Band is their unique sound. You can easily recognize an Eli Young Band song when you hear it. Skeletons is no different. It’s a great song with another cool, groovy melody.
I like it plus it doesn’t seem to be like another song at radio now. I could see this as the different kind of track that could crack the top ten for the guys if they release it as a single.
This is a new way for a band to sing about a familiar topic. It’s cool.
