I had the chance to see Eric Church in concert in the summer of 2009. It was an interesting point in Eric’s career back then. It was shortly after he released his second album. The first single eventually became Eric’s first top ten hit, but Eric was not really a superstar or even a star back then. He was playing the local fair, but what amazed me was how passionate fans were. They were going nuts and they knew every lyric to every song played during the set.
That was an eye opener.
Now Eric has gone on to be one of the biggest stars in country and he’s releasing a new live album. I’m sure it has all the energy and passion I witnessed four years ago.
Here is the video for the new live promotional single Over When It’s Over.
Over When It’s Over – Eric Church
It’s pretty cool to see Eric perform live. He’s really become a great performer. I remember four years ago he was figuring out his style, but he knew how to play to the crowd and they loved it. Every song he played was great live, which isn’t always the case.
I think the interesting thing about Eric’s music in the studio is there is a little bit of an edge. You can kind of feel like you might be at a live show. This makes it easy for Eric to play the songs live and still get them to sound like they do on the record, which is what people pay to hear.
This is one of the great songs from Eric’s last album and it sounds great on the new live record.
