It seems to have been an interesting couple of years of Scott McCreery. He had success right out of the gates with his first album after Idol. The singles on that record were solid. Two top twenty hits and another single that was good, but only cracked the top forty.
Then he released a great Christmas record. Then his sophomore album had back to back top ten hits. They probably could have released one more off that record, but they moved on with a new single from a planned new record.
That’s when things kind of stalled. The single didn’t do well and McCreery was dropped from his label. At first I thought he was looking to get out of the deal, but that could have been related to issues with his management.
Anyway, Scotty has continued to tour and he’s been playing this song in concert for a few years. Now he’s put it out himself probably hoping for some momentum to build with a major label again.
Five More Minutes – Scotty McCreery
Scott McCreery belongs on the country charts. His voice is too country and too good not to be. I’m sure that labels have been interested over the last few years. They would be crazy not to be.
And how about this song?
A song about the great things in life. And how they usually end a little too soon. We just want things last a little longer. Time with our buddies. Time with our loved ones. Those high school football games. All those kinds of special moments in life.
This song is a hit if it could just find a home.
