Cruise (Remix) by Florida Georgia Line feat. Nelly

Florida Georgia Line Remix

It’s remix time for the boys in Florida Georgia Line.

If you’re not a fan of country and rap coming together then you’re in for a few rough years.

The movement is here and the latest example is a remix of Cruise by Florida Georgia Line.

This one caught me off guard a little bit, but I should have been prepared. It’s a great song to remix and I think they did a pretty good job.

Check it out.

Cruise (Remix) – Florida Georgia Line feat. Nelly

A year ago at this time nobody in the mainstream country audience knew about Florida Georgia Line. This song became one of the biggest hits of 2012 and it still has legs as we head into this year.

The song is flying up the pop charts right now thanks to this remix with rap star Nelly.

It was a good move for the guys because they’re part of the modern day country rap movement. The lyrics are fast and the beats are heavy and laced with hooks.

This is not the first time this style of remix was done. Jason Aldean brought in Ludacris on a remix of Dirt Road Anthem just a couple of years. That song would go on to become the biggest in Aldean’s career.

And if you go back even further you’ll realize that this is the second time Nelly has appeared in the country world. Remember the song Over and Over he did with Tim McGraw.

Doing this type of collaboration opens up the gates on country music. It brings in a new audience to the genre and raises the profile for everybody.

It’s good for business and I think the remix is good as well.

What do you think?
