Alright. I have a story for you if you’re willing to listen. In late 2001 and early 2002 I was about a senior in high school. I would make these CDs of my favorite country songs and listen to them all the time. I was late to the Pat Green party, but just as he was coming on the mainstream I picked up his song Carry On and loved it. I had to play that thing hundreds of times back then.
Pat went on to have a very strong career in the mainstream world, but then he went back to Texas and back to his roots. He’s still out there making great music and he’s as big as ever in Texas. The mainstream world is missing out. But here is his new one featuring another great singer from country’s edge, Lyle Lovett.
Girls From Texas – Pat Green feat. Lyle Lovett
I’ve never been to Texas before. I need to get down there. It sounds like a good place. I can’t say that I’ll be looking for girls down there. I’ll take my wife who is a great Wisconsin girl.
But that’s kind of the point of the song. Wherever you’re from you’re going to be appreciative of the girls from your hometown and home area. I think it’s pretty cool and the way it’s done on this song is really cool. Pat Green sound as good as ever. Great song.
