A few years ago Trace Adkins came out with a single and also on that single was pop singer Colbie Callait. The song didn’t really do much on the charts and I don’t think people really paid attention, but I thought it was interesting that Colbie was dipping her toe into country music. It kind of made sense at the time.
But that was pretty much all the thought I gave to the situation until recently when Colbie’s new song popped up on Wild Country on Spotify. It’s a good song and it kind of makes sense for country music.
Goldmine – Colbie Callait
The song is the first single from an upcoming album that’s due out later this fall. It sounds like it belongs on the pop charts and I hope it does well there, but wouldn’t it be interesting if this song kind of made a little impact in country music?
It’s a straightforward love song with the usual lyrics, but it sounds fresh and fun. The sounds and music on the track are really interesting. They’re light and airy and you sound like you’re falling in love a the beach in paradise.
The thing here is that this song would be something that country singers Jake Owen and Billy Currington could really pull off. Those two have had songs like this on their albums. Maybe not released as singles, but maybe that could happen in the future.
My wife always kinds of pokes fun at me because when a Colbie Callait song has come on in the car in the past I’ve always reached to turn the volume up a notch.
Her music is fun and light and it makes you feel good and I like this new one.
What do you think?
