One Good Friend by Gretchen Wilson

Back With New Music – Gretchen Wilson

Gretchen Wilson is out on her own now. She’s away from the major labels. She’s still putting out great music and she has a new single available and it’s really good. Listening to her perform live is a reminder of just how good she is. Gretchen is a true country artist and one I’ve grown to appreciate more in just the most recent years.

One Good Friends – Gretchen Wilson

When Gretchen Wilson first came out I thought her sound was pretty gimmicky. It was catchy and fun, but it just wasn’t for me at the time. As she continue to release music, though, I slowly became a fan. Her last album was great. It was too bad it couldn’t have been bigger in the mainstream world. She did have a top 20 hit and a few other charting songs. It was a success on certain levels for a self-released record.

Now Gretchen is ready to release another song and it’s a really good country track.¬†One Good Friend is a slow song about the appreciation we all have for that one person in our lives that’s always been there for us. It could be our best friend from the old days. It could be a family member. It could even be our significant other. We’re all lucky if we find that one good friend out there that watches out for us and tries to steer us in the right direction when we’re getting a little off the path.

The story for me with this song, though, is how good Gretchen’s voice is. She has to be one of the best country singers out there right now and it’s a shame she’s not on the mainstream charts. Maybe this song will find some traction and make it up there in the top 30s or so. I’m hoping that’s what happens, but Gretchen is at a point in her career where she appears happy with making music for her hardcore fans. She’s out on the road playing live and the music like¬†One Good Friend is truly for the fans.

What do you think of the new song?
