This is shaping up to be a big year for Gretchen Wilson. It’s been three years since Wilson returned to the top 20 on the country singles charts. She’s been on her own label since that time and now she has not one and not even two new albums planned this year. Three albums are planned including a new studio set, a covers record of ’70s rock hits and a holiday album due out later in the fall.
Talk about big plans.
The second single from the new studio effort is Still Rollin’ and it’s easy to hear that Gretchen has been spending time listening to those ’70s rock classics. This one has Bob Seger written all over it.
Still Rollin’ – Gretchen Wilson
When you start listening to this song you almost think it takes some sounds from Against The Wind by Bob Seger. Maybe it’s the piano playing, but it sounds like a very similar melody.
I like it and I’m fine with it. We all take influence from others in life and try to make something even more special.
This new song from Gretchen is great. If you haven’t been paying attention to her music since she last reached the top of the charts in 2005 then you’ve been missing out.
She’s making music she wants to make right now. She’s out on her own and still bringing the goods to country fans. She should have success this year with these records if this single is any indication.
