Jon Pardi’s first record was very much a party record.
I had the chance to see him open for Alan Jackson earlier this year in Green Bay. Jon knows how to put on a show and he had the crowd doing and dancing in their seats.
Party songs are great, but sometimes it pays to slow things down a little bit. And that’s what Jon has done with this new song from an upcoming sophomore album.
Head Over Boots – Jon Pardi
This is a pretty cool song. I really like it. And the more I listen the more I like it.
It’s definitely not a party song. It’s kind of a mid tempo country song that just kind of grooves real nice and easy. It’s something you could kind of slow dance to when you’re out at the country bar with the person you love the most.
And that’s perfect for the theme of the song. It’s about a guy that just wants to take his girl out for a romantic night on the town…country style.
But there aren’t a bunch of tired images like trucks and tailgates and all that in this song. There’s a little bit of that to make it country, but it sounds fresh and even old school in a good way.
There have been love songs like this on country radio, but it’s been a while. I think this is a throwback type of song and I hope people really dig it. I think it would be a good change of pace on country radio today. It’s stripped down and a little more rootsy.
I like it.
