I’m rooting for Mickey Guyton to succeed in country music. With the music she’s had out so far she’s definitely shown a love for traditional country music. I really liked her debut single, Better Than You Left Me. That was a killer country song and made it into the top 40 last year. Not a bad debut.
Now she’s back with a new single that could have her poised for even higher reaches on the chart.
Heartbreak Song – Mickey Guyton
This song has an interesting hook. We have heard a number of breakup and heartbreak songs in country music. We all go through those times in our life and it can be easy to go through the first emotion where you just want to cuss the other person out and all that business.
But this song takes a unique look at it from the country artist situation. She’s not going to write a heartbreak song about this latest situation with a guy. He might think that he’s going to be getting a song about him, but it’s not about him anymore and it sounds like that was one of the main issues with the relationship. Maybe it was all about him and that was never going to work out.
The production on this one is a little more pop than the other songs Mickey has put out in the past. She sounds great and by now we know that the traditional country singer is still there.
What do you thin of this new one?
