Some country fans today may remember the name Rodney Crowell.
Back in 1988-89, Rodney did something pretty special. He released an album and all five singles off the record reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Country Singles chart.
In fact, it’s something that’s only been done once or twice since. You just don’t see that many number ones from a single album anymore.
Rodney had some more hits after that run, but what a record to be known for. What a run to have.
Rodney just released a new album and it’s got some really good music on it.
I Don’t Care Anymore – Rodney Crowell
Rodney always had his own style. He wasn’t the country hat act that would come around in the ’90s. He wasn’t really the slick pop sound that was popular at times in the ’80s. Rodney always kind of fit in with his own crowd. And lots of fans really loved it.
Rodney still sounds unique with this song. I chose this one because it has kind of a unique little opening. I think that’s a banjo or something. I can’t say for sure, but it instantly caught my attention.
The lyrics seem to be about a guy that’s kind of looking at his life. Looking at the way things are now and the way things have been in the past. A guy wondering if he’s past his prime, but still feeling good and living the way he wants today.
It’s not about the fame anymore. It’s not about that kind of attention. It’s about doing what he loves.
