At this point it’s probably safe to call the tribute album for Motley Crue a success. The folks connected to Big Machine took on the interesting project last year and brought just about all their artists on board including stars like Justin Moore, Brantley Gilbert and Florida Georgia Line. This song wasn’t an official single, but it’s one that FGL recorded for the project. I think they did a good job.
If I Die Tomorrow – Florida Georgia Line
From listening to a couple of these tribute songs I would say that the tendency was to lean toward the original rock feel of the ’80s instead of the country world. The guitars are screaming throughout this one. It sounds like the rock and roll of the ’80s. It was certainly something that Motley did back in those days and it’s pretty cool to hear it from Florida Georgia Line.
The guys are right in line with what they are comfortable doing on this track. It sounds like something that could have been on their debut record last year. They brought this kind of sound into country or at least helped to do it. People have been responding to so it looks like we’ll continue to see this shift toward heavier metal in country at least until something different takes over.
What do you think of this one?
