Joey + Rory have been sharing their life with their fans for the last few years on their blog: This Life I Live. Perhaps you’ve had a chance to catch up with their story the last several months. It’s been a story that will take you through all of life’s emotions.
I won’t fill you in on much more than that, but recently Joey + Rory put out what will be their final album. It’s a collection of hymns. Each one is a gem including this one.
I’ll Fly Away – Joey + Rory
Death is something we all face in life. It touches us as we approach our own passing, but it also touches us throughout life as we deal with the loss of loved ones and those that are close to us.
There are stages that come with death and related emotions. One of those emotions is that we accept it and can have some happy feelings. I think that is what this song is about. It’s upbeat and positive and seems to be a way for people to celebrate life and all the things we can experience.
I have to admit, though, that I’m not as familiar with hymns as I should be. Maybe you can fill me in on what this song and others mean to you.
I don’t know if there is a right way to deal with death whether it’s your own or someone close to you. I do know that songs like this seem to help us when we’re dealing with the inevitable in life.
And it’s wonderful when talented folks like Joey + Rory can help share it with others.
