Alright, I’m hearing this one for the first time as I write this review. That’s kind of fun to do sometimes. You’ll get my stream-of-thought on this new song from Chris Young.
Chris has been one of my favorites for a long time. I think he meshes an old school country sound with the new style that’s out there today. Here is his new single from a brand new record due out probably later this year.
I’m Coming Over – Chris Young
So we have two people that have probably been together for a long time. They’ve been through a lot and when that’s the case it’s hard not to see a life in the future without each other.
But in this case there are some reasons why the couple wants to part ways. But they keep feeling the pull that brings them back together even if they know it’s not the right thing.
This song is about a couple that’s in that purgatory territory where they’re not over, but they’re not getting back together either. It’s a troubling place to be.
Chris does his usually good job on the lyric. That’s where the traditional sound comes in. But there are some modern sounds especially with that little hip hop style bass line or whatever it is at the beginning.
But I think it works well.
It’s hard to believe that’s it’s been two years since AM came out. I guess we are due for another Chris Young record and it sounds like he’s off to a good start with this first single.
