Thomas Rhett has had an interesting start to his young career in country music.
He kind of eased onto the scene in 2011 and 2012. He had a couple cuts on albums especially one of his songs that Jason Aldean recorded. It seemed like Thomas was destined to have a fast rising career.
His first two singles came out and did alright, but didn’t do anything crazy. The release of his debut album had to be pushed back and pushed back again.
Then TR went to his dad, well-known songwriter Rhett Akins, and found a few more songs to record. Those songs shot to the top of the charts and led to back-to-back number ones.
Then TR put out one of his original songs and reached number one just this past week.
I’m not sure what the plan is but after five singles off his first album it would make sense that TR wold be ready to move on to new music with a new single this summer leading into a new album later in the summer or early in the fall.
We’ll have to see how that shakes out, but since it’s Wednesday I thought I would comment on one of my favorite album cuts from the album, In A Minute. It’s one of the songs TR wrote and he actually co-wrote it with his dad. I think it’s got a cool groove and a good message.
Maybe we’ll still hear it as a single, but if not we’ll have to remember it as one of the great album cuts from country’s history.
