I thought 1994, Jason Aldean’s last single was going to be a huge hit.
Relative to most other country songs I would say it was a success, but it was not a smash hit or game changer. I think Jason has had those singles before with Hicktown, Big Green Tractor, and Dirt Road Anthem.
1994 just wasn’t that type of single. I think it could be a fan favorite, but for Jason it’s time to move on to the next single.
Jason put the word out that he wanted the fans to help choose the next single.
My hunch is it’s going to be the title track from the album.
Night Train – Jason Aldean
This is a cool song. It has the classic sound that Jason has become known for. He’s definitely found what artists call their “pocket”. He knows where he’s comfortable and he sticks with it while pushing things outside the box on a few tracks (1994 and Black Tears).
Night Train is a story song. It’s a story about love. The couple is looking to sneak away for the night to be together. There is a little serious edge to the song, but as you listen you know it’s all about the passion and the love the two people feel for each other.
Jason has found his love of small towns and country life with his music. This story could be about any of the young couples out there that have been falling in love while living small town life.
But what makes this song a hit is the melody. That’s where Jason has really come into his own for the last three records. He knows how to find songs with great hooks and his fans love them.
What do you think of Night Train?
