Jerrod Niemann is rolling.
With his latest single nearing the top spot on the charts it’s time to look ahead a bit to what may be Jerrod’s next single. Sure it’s a little into the future, but it’s safe to say there is at least one more single from his debut album.
If I were to choose the next single (and I have no ability or talent to pick songs) it would be Bakersfield – a song that kind of catches you off guard when you hear the title. The song is actually a bit more country sounding than a few of Jerrod’s other songs. His first two tracks are definitely pop-country but they work well. Bakersfield has a bit of harmonica with some other country charms as well.
The song is about the narrator finding a short time lover out in California. Her name was Tiffany, but he just called her Bakersfield. Don’t take it as a shallow nickname though. Sometimes us guys just like to give girls a cute nickname for fun and charm. Haven’t you ever been given a nickname even if it was just your last name?
The relationship didn’t work out in the song, but the narrator looks back on his time with Bakersfield fondly. Those flings can be some of the most memorable.
I hope we can hear this song on the radio. It’s a great country love song.
