There is a little influx of young country singers right now. Hunter Hayes has recently broke through in a big way. He’s only 21 years old and now we have 20 year old Joel Crouse.
Joel is signed to Toby Keith’s record label and has released his first single. Many successful country careers have been started with a fun song and that’s exactly what this one is from the newcomer. Check out the live performance of If You Want Some.
If You Want Some – Joel Crouse
I think of the debut singles of Jake Owen and Luke Bryan as recent examples of party songs that have been first hits for newcomers. The difference with this one is that it’s not an all out party song. It’s kind of romantic in a way and what really saves it is the melody.
If you just listen to the music and kind of let the lyrics go through your head you’ll find yourself nodding your head along to the beat. It’s a fun song that is just what a new artist needs to get a little attention the charts.
It’s hard to break through in the country world. It seems people want something catchy and that’s just what Joel Crouse has provided with this song. I can see it reaching the top 25, which is really good for a first single.
Many careers have launched in that manner and it sounds like this kid has the talent. We’ll have to see it pans out, but recent history with Hunter Hayes suggests there is room on the charts for Joel Crouse.
Chart Estimate: #25
