Fun fact before we get into the review…
I was born on December 15th, 1984. The number one song in the country that week on pop radio was Out Of Touch by Hall & Oates. I’m thankful I was born on time because the next week the song would have been Like A Virgin by Madonna.
Anyway, John Oates from Hall & Oates fame has been doing something pretty cool this summer. He’s been putting out one new song each month and last month he released this one. It has a little country flavor to it.
Don’t Cross Me Wrong – John Oates
It’s a really cool. It has this meanness to it. You get that Cajun flavor in there with the sound of the guitars and the other instruments. And John’s voice has that kind of feel on this song as well.
It’s about a guy that is giving off a warning not to mess with him. It might be about a girl. It could be about anything, though. There are plenty of reasons that guys get angry and sometimes we get pushed too far.
It’s also pretty cool that Vince Gill was involved. Vince seems to be involved with tons of projects these days. He’s kind of been out there as the superstar and now he really seems to like helping out his friends and new artists as well.
Fun song. Great song.
