The Judds are back.
Since we wrote about their new song this morning, I thought it would be great to flashback to the Judds and their earlier songs for Flashback Friday. This classic song comes from their early days back in the ’80s. It was this song along with so many other classics from that era that made the Judds huge country stars.
It was 1986 and the song Grandpa became a huge number one smash hit for the girls. They took the song straight to the top as they looked back to the good old days with their grandfather.
Anyone that is close with a grandparent or someone that’s older can relate to the song Grandpa. I remember sitting on my grandpa’s lap and asking him question after question about the past. He also offered up plenty of stories without me even needing to ask. There were stories about him growing up on a farm in rural Wisconsin back in the depression years. There were stories of how he left a secure job to start his own business even when he had four young girls and a wife dependent on him.
Grandpas are inspiring people and I think that’s the emotion the Judds hit on with Grandpa.
This was the kind of song that made the ’80s great for country music fans. The Judds were a huge part of the success back then. They ran up hit after hit and became one of country’s biggest acts.
Thanks to this song fans can still look back on the good old days and smile.
