Kacey Musgraves has kind of come out of nowhere this last year. Her album, Same Trailer Different Park, has been a huge success on the back of three really big singles. Now it’s time for the fourth single and it sounds like another hit. Give it a listen and see what you think.
Keep It To Yourself – Kacey Musgraves
I think this song is about a breakup. It sounds like the girl had to break things off because they really weren’t going very well on her side of things. A few people get in these relationships where it’s skewed quite a bit toward the give and really not any take at all. That’s not how relationships seem to work the best and you have to get out while you can.
But unfortunately when you end things the other person realizes how good they had it and they come crying back. That’s when this song kicks in and tells that person to keep their thoughts to themselves. Because no matter how much you want to tell that person to stay away there is still something in you that was attracted to them and still is attracted to them.
Another great song from Kacey here. She brings such a unique perspective to her songs and lyrics and it’s been a breath of fresh air for country music. It’s like the album Did I Shave My Legs For This? back in 1996 or so. That was a record that changed things and this one is doing the same thing. Just hit after hit.
