There is a little trend in country music right now. There are powerful women coming around that have something to say about their lives and the men they’re struggling with. Kelleigh fits in well with that trend and her new song is really good. Check it out and see if you think this one will be a big hit as we head into the twilight of 2012.
Sorry On The Rocks – Kelleigh Bannen
It’s a cool hook for a song. Kelleigh sings about being a woman that’s always left at home while her man is out drinking. He thinks it’s alright to be gone all the time drinking and hanging with his friends. She’s had enough at this point and he’s already had too much to drink. He’s called her to chat and fix things, but she’s way past that point. It’s time for her to leave to find something better. There are people out there better than he is and she’s ready to find them.
This is a cool song. I like the sound. The story is something that’s always worked in country music, but this sound is really cool. It would be awesome to have a revival of the powerful women in country music like there was in the late ’80s with Mary Chapin Carpenter and Patty Loveless and all the others that came out around that time. I think it seems to be happening again.
Kelleigh has this interesting voice. She sounds country. She sounds like she’s been through some things in her life and I’m anxious to hear about all the stories she has to share.
The guy in the song gets to do what he’s always wanted now. She’s leaving and he can stay out as long as he wants. I’m sure there was more to it than just a couple nights of drinking. There is always more to it when the end comes. Their relationship was on the rocks and now it’s over for good.
