A couple years ago Dallas Smith broke into the top 40 on the US country charts with Tippin’ Point. That song was really catchy and I thought it had a chance to maybe break into the top 20.
Since then Dallas has been putting out new singles. They’ve been hitting in his home country of Canada, but he’s still searching for that first big hit in the US.
Here is his latest single.
Will this one be that big hit?
Kids With Cars – Dallas Smith
Dallas brings some familiar themes to the game with this song. You have the images of life for kids with cars. It’s really a kid’s first introduction to adulthood. When you get that first car you have freedom and you can really go just about anywhere you want to go.
But perhaps at that age you’re still not really responsible for a whole lot.
This song is a little different from Dallas’s last one, Wastin’ Gas. I thought that one might have cracked into the charts in the US. This one is more upbeat, but it continues to show off Dallas’s unique style. He’s definitely looking to push the boundaries of country music.
Maybe that’s why he’s been having a little bit of a tough time on the US charts. But if he keeps at it people will eventually pay attention because the songs are catchy and they’re certainly about the topics that country fans can relate to.
I like this one, but I’d like to hear your thoughts.
