LeAnn Rimes kind of got the raw end of the deal.
In the last couple years she’s been a victim of life’s circumstance. She has made a few choices to find her happiness. Some people were hurt. Others were offended and now LeAnn doesn’t seem to be quite as popular for her music.
That’s a shame because her music remains some of the best music country has to offer. Here is her live performance of Good Hearted Woman from her wonderful album Lady & Gentlemen…
Good Hearted Woman – LeAnn Rimes (Live)
Lady & Gentlemen is a great album. LeAnn released it just a few weeks ago after a couple singles were released over the last year. The album has LeAnn taking on the concept of recording some of the great male country songs from history. She does a great job on the covers and throws in a few original tracks for good measure.
One of the cover songs, Good Hearted Woman, made its way to CMT recently. LeAnn gave a lively live performance of Good Hearted Woman and by the end of the song the crowd seemed to be coming around. I’m not sure why, but people seem to really be quick to judge LeAnn these days. I understand, she left her husband and became the other woman in a broken marriage.
It happens. It’s not always right, but I’ll cut LeAnn some slack.
We all have our faults. I prefer to focus on the things we do well in life.
And Good Hearted Woman is a great song for LeAnn. The classic Waylon Jennings song is about a woman that’s in love with a man that has a few faults of his own. He’s been out having a good time and not really doing much of anything to make her stay. She’s convinced she will stay with him though. She loes him with her entire heart and stays through it all.
She’s got a good heart and that’s what guides her through life.
It’s a good song and I still think it fits LeAnn well. She may get sidetracked with life sometimes, but she always comes back with great songs. Country radio and the fans don’t always accept her these days, but that’s their fault. They’re missing out on some great songs including this one.
I’d love to hear Good Hearted Woman on the radio, but I don’t think it will happen. We’ll just have to settle for the live performance right here.
And I guess I’m ok with that.
Keep belting it out LeAnn. You have at least one fan for life no matter what. You’re one of the best singers country has to offer and that can’t really ever change.
