Dwight Yoakam released a new album earlier this spring. As usual, the songs are all great. We’ve come to expect as much from country’s Hollywood Man.
Dwight has been doing this for 30 years in the spotlight and he’s still putting out rocking country that get people up and dancing.

Liar – Dwight Yoakam
What really jumps out on this track is the music and the tempo. You won’t hear any music like this anywhere in country music and Dwight has kind of always been that way. I know he grew up on the Bakersfield sound with Buck Owens and those guys out west, but over his career Dwight has taken that and other influences and made his own sound.
I would say Dwight is as current as ever even if he’s one of the older acts on the block. He still rocks as much as any of the young guys and his songs are catchy. This one has a little bit of ’60s and ’70s rock and roll and that’s classic Dwight.
As the far as the lyrics go the song seems to be about two people that really can’t seem to get along. It sounds like they’re telling each other one thing while really feeling something else. And that’s probably where the frustration in the vocals come from and why the song is a little uptempo and a little bit angry.
I like it and it’s always good to hear Dwight out there rocking and rolling while adding a little country twang.
